1964 Smith Corona Sterling, 5AX, Dawn Gray

So beautiful. There are a few scratches along the bottom edges and just under the return handle, but otherwise is simply lovely. One of my top recommended manual typewriter models, and this particular machine looks and operates wonderfully!

Also includes the original owner's manual.

EXTERIOR & CASE: Comes with the original hard-sided case, and it is in good condition. As mentioned above, the exterior finish is in Dawn Gray, and though there are a few chips and scratches, they are not very noticeable. Overall, it is a handsome typewriter!

PERFORMANCE: Excellent! If I had to recommend one manual typewriter above others, it most likely would be the Sterling 5AX, and this one will suit any writer very well. The keyboard is also well suited for petite hands.

OPTIONAL 6-MO WARRANTY

As part of this warranty, Jot & Tittle Vintage Typewriters will cover the cost of repairs and shipping the typewriter TO YOU. The customer is responsible for the cost of getting the typewriter TO US for repairs. We use www.pirateship.com for the best rates. 

With the warranty option, we will cover any mechanical issues NOT mentioned in the listing or demo video that result from regular daily use for 6 months after purchase—starting from the day our tracking information shows the typewriter was delivered. We recommend taking out your typewriter immediately and testing it for any issues.

This warranty covers any MECHANICAL/OPERATIONAL issues that occur in the course of normal use. Examples include keys sticking/not operating, the carriage no longer working due to a broken drawband or other issue, a space bar that stops working, the paper feed rollers no longer pulling in paper, etc. It also covers motor failure on electric typewriters. These are examples of common typewriter issues and are not an exhaustive list of coverage.

This warranty does NOT cover damage from misuse, food or drink spills, being dropped, or other accidental damage. Damage such as bent or broken parts is not covered (unless it results from shipping). It also does not cover water damage or any incidents arising from an accident or improper use. Paint or exterior damage is not covered either.

IMPORTANT! Do NOT attempt to repair the typewriter yourself. Any effort at repair on your part VOIDS THIS WARRANTY! This includes opening the bottom or side panels, accessing the mechanics, or making adjustments. Please contact us first, and Rob will guide you as to what to do.

We will always try to address issues by phone or email first. If the problem isn't resolved, we'll provide instructions for returning the typewriter for repair. If there is damage as a direct result of shipping, please notify us immediately.
