We ship through major carriers (UPS and FedEx) and require signature confirmation due to the value and delicate nature of vintage typewriters.

DAMAGED PACKAGES
We try to prepare for events that can cause damage to your typewriter.
Minor damage can occur, and most of those we can work with you over email or the phone for a solution. In the case of a minor chip, scratch, or dent—but the typewriter is still functional—insurance does not cover damage in those instances. If the damage impacts the performance of the typewriter (compared to the performance as shown in the demo video for your particular typewriter), we will file a claim on your typewriter but will be providing the refund ourselves. Insurance claims have become increasingly difficult to get approved. However, we take that risk on your behalf. Because of this, we have a specific policy for shipping damage.
IF THERE IS DAMAGE FROM SHIPPING, YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE DELIVERY OF YOUR PACKAGE!!! NO EXCEPTIONS. IF YOU CONTACT US AFTER 48 HOURS, YOU MUST HAVE PURCHASED A 6-MONTH WARRANTY FOR US TO COVER DAMAGES TO THE TYPEWRITER!
We offer a full refund for those typewriters that arrived damaged RESULTING in the performance of the typewriter being impacted. Once we approve your return, we'll instruct you as to whether you will keep the typewriter and submit photos to us for insurance or if you need to return it to us at your cost for a full refund. We compare the performance of the typewriter with the demo video we filmed for it. We do NOT cover surface/external damage due to shipping. THE DAMAGE MUST IMPACT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TYPEWRITER AND BE A RESULT OF SHIPPING. We need proof of damage by photos of the box, the case, and photos or video showing the damage.
Please inspect your typewriter package immediately. If you suspect shipping damage do the following:
Contact me (Laura) at hello@jotandtittletypewriters.com to let us know. Remember, you MUST email us within 48 hours of receiving the package. The signature on your delivery gives us the time and day your package was delivered.
We will start communicating with you asap. Please be patient as it may take a day or two to respond.
Provide a phone number as well. For minor issues, Rob will either email or call you to try to resolve the problem over the phone.
For significant damage, please take photos of the box, case, and damage to the typewriter. You can also send a video.
Once we determine that shipping has resulted in damage to the PERFORMANCE of the typewriter, we will give the okay for you to return the typewriter for a full refund or if you need to keep it until the insurance claim has been filed and accepted.
