IT STARTED WITH, “WHAT IF…”?
In 2018, I (Laura) wanted a typewriter…just because. I had no idea if typewriters were even still around. Rob (my husband) searched and found a few old typewriters but they needed work. I had recently closed a boutique I owned and was ripe for another business idea. We wondered if we could do anything with typewriters. We bought 3 old typewriters, set up a card table in the living room, and Rob started tinkering with them.
What started as an experiment, surprised us both when it turned into a thriving business in a very short time.
In 2 years, we’ve repaired & sold over 650 vintage typewriters – and we’re loving every minute.
WHO WE ARE
We recently relocated from Colorado to Kimberling City, MO, a little town situated on the gorgeous and popular Table Rock Lake. Our home overlooks the lake with a view that is amazing and inspiring, and a fantastic place to set up our vintage typewriter business.
Rob hunts for typewriters all across the country and repairs them. He is also the “master packer” and has a great track record for getting your vintage typewriters to you safe and sound – all the while keeping a full-time job.
Laura manages the daily operations of the business, handles photos, videos, marketing, website, customer service, and everything else associated with being a business owner. She also has other client work and business projects.
We feel so blessed to work together from home doing something we enjoy.
WORKING WITH EXCELLENCE
How we operate our business is extremely important. I consider the type of experience I’d want if I was my own customer. This perspective allows us to serve our customers well as we do everything to set appropriate expectations for purchasing a vintage item. We do everything within our ability to make sure the full experience is a pleasant one. As a result, most of our customers are thrilled with their purchases and experience – which makes us happy!
Some of the things we do for our customers:
- Typewriter Tutorial videos for every machine we sell
- Accurately describe the condition of the machine
- Give you 3 days to try out the typewriter to make sure it is as we say and that you are going to like it.
- Offer an optional 6-month warranty
- Quickly reply to requests and questions
